In the spirit of good fun,
it’s time to start Boo-ing your friends and neighbors!

FREE Halloween Printable

Booing is an American contribution to Halloween which can be traced back to the 1980s. It’s a ding-dong-ditch, knock-and-run FUN tradition of surprising your neighbor with a fall treat. Many people are still in the dark about this Halloween tradition, so to shed a little light on the subject, these are the rules:

Print TWO ‘Boo’ printables along with this poem:

Halloween is drawing near,

But don’t let this spook bring you fear.

We’ve left these treats just for you.

Enjoy them please; we hope you do!

Then before two days have come and passed

Spread the fun to make it last.

Choose two friends to give treats to,

Then they’ll be BOOED just like you!

Assemble your treat bags and print your poems, then stealthily deliver them to your friends and neighbors in drop-ring-run fashion. You’ll want to remain anonymous, so try not to get caught!

Easy-peasy-pumpkin-squeezy, right?

But, if you’re like me, and you’re just dying to have a little Fall festive fun with your neighbor, feel free to breeze right past all of this mummy-jumbo and download your FREE Printable to use however you wish, muAH-ha-hah-haaaaa!!

This ‘Boo’ design is formatted to print four to a standard US sheet (8.5″x11″). Each individual tag measures approximately 3.5″x5″.

World Storytelling Day

World Storytelling Day

World Storytelling Day

I’m totally hot for my husband for so many reasons! 😍 🔥 😂 He’s handy around the house (ahem, ‘log cabin’), he makes me laugh on the daily, and he makes a mean burrito! Along with some of his other adoring qualities, he also assumed bedtime responsibilities with our older boy when my youngest son was born.

As part of that bedtime ritual, books are read and stories come alive!

Today just happens to be World Storytelling Day. World Storytelling Day is a global celebration of the art of storytelling. It is celebrated every year on the March equinox, on (or near) March 20. On World Storytelling Day, as many people as possible tell and listen to stories in as many languages and at as many places as possible, during the same day and night.

So, pillows are plumped and our book pile is ready.

Here’s a peek at some of our personal favorite stories that we read to our boys are (in no particular order):

1) I Love You, Stinky Face – by Lisa McCourt
A sweet story about the unconditional love of a mother for her little boy. Whether her boy were an alligator or a super-smelly skunk, a mother’s love is always the same!

2) The Book with No Pictures – by BJ Novak
The title pretty much sums this one up. That’s right, NO pictures! Yet there’s belly-busting laughter all around whenever this book is read. Liked but young and old alike. It’s a keeper!

3) If You Decide To Go To The Moon – by Faith McNulty
I would have to say that this is one of my son’s favorites. Maybe it’s the ‘down to earth’ language. I swear, to catch a glimpse of him when he’s caught up in this story is such an amazing experience. His eyes say it all. Captured.

4) The Tickle Tree – by Chae Strathie
An imaginative tale – A “phantasmagorical flight of fantasy at your fingertips”. The illustrations are almost as magical as the story itself. Text is woven all around the intricate drawings which pulls you right in to the story.

If you would like to add any of these titles to your personal library, purchase links have been added for your convenience.

What are some of your bedtime – or anytime – storytime favorites?  Tell me in the comments below.  We’re always looking to expand our adventures!

Party on,

Now it’s my turn, and the (chocolate) bar is raised HIGH!  Chocolate to the rescue!  I mean, is there anything that we enjoy S’more than chocolate?

Wine, perhaps.  But I digress…

Let me tell you a little bit S’more about my favorite chocolaty treat, .. S’mores!

And what could be better than S’mores and Christmas?

Custom Mae’d is a party stationery studio based in a log cabin in Middletown, Maryland.  I’m Mae of Custom Mae’d, and you could say I have a this thing for nature.  I’m so inspired by peace and quiet.

Record scratch, ….say what?

Yes, I’m a party girl by day, but nothing makes me feel more warm and cozy than twinkly lights, chocolate, and this quiet cabin in the woods.

Record scratch, come again?

I have two young boys, it’s never quiet here.

But, a girl can dream.  And when I do, I dream of S’mores.

Buffalo Plaid Christmas Card

NEW for Holiday 2015 – Buffalo Plaid Christmas Card

Staying true to my obsession of buffalo plaid, I’ve created this ‘Buffalo Plaid Christmas Card’.  I don’t know what it is about this checkered black and red pattern, it simply makes me happy.

Old Spice, lumberjack, beard oil HAPPY.  (My dad wore Old Spice. Did yours?)

This card is particularly special to me because these are my people.

This is my family, and my own personal Christmas card.
